newbridgeBendigo Advertiser | NEWBRIDGE is determined not to undo its hard work of the past month when it takes on Mitiamo in the Loddon Valley Football League on Saturday.

Having made a disastrous 0-4 start to 2015, the Maroons have breathed life back into their season and given their finals hopes a pulse.

They are now 4-6 and back within a game of the top five, with the fifth-placed Superoos holding onto one of the positions the Maroons are eyeing off.

The Maroons go into Saturday's game at Mitiamo on the back of a pair of crucial wins over two other middle-tier sides, Marong and Calivil United.

"We knew going into the block of three games against Marong, Calivil United and Mitiamo that we need to win all of them," Newbridge coach Matt Dillon said.

"We've won the first two of those games, but we know it could be all brought undone this week if we let it slip and everyone knows just how important Saturday is."

The Maroons won't climb into the top five with a win over the Superoos, but there's the possibility that come 5pm on Saturday night that Calivil United, Mitiamo, Marong and Newbridge could all be locked on five wins apiece and separated by just percentage from fourth to seventh.

"We're coming from a long way back, but it's simple... we've just got to keep winning," Dillon said.

"The guys really want to play finals and they are showing that in the way they are going about it."
