AFLcountry thumbWeekly Times | ANOTHER two winning streaks ended at the weekend.

Warrnambool took revenge for two consecutive grand final losses to Koroit in the Hampden league by halting the Saints’ 22-game winning run with a 19-point victory. The Blues were the only side to defeat Koroit last season and achieved it only once, in the first round. The Saints won the next three encounters, including the semi-final and grand final.

Simpson’s 23-game winning streak came to an unceremonious end with a 102-point thrashing by Birregurra, coincidently the last side to beat the Tigers in the 2014 semi-final.

On the flip side another three sides that had not won games since 2014 broke their droughts over the weekend.

Warrack Eagles, which last won a Wimmera league semi-final in 2014, beat Dimboola by five goals while Boort defeated Wedderburn by four goals in the North Central league.

Branxholme Wallacedale rounded out the trio with a 67-point win against Heathmere in the South West District league.
