WONTHAGGI finished better to defeat Maffra by 38 points.
After leading by 10 points at half-time, the Power kicked nine goals to five in the second half to win 15.16 (106) to 10.8 (68) and consolidated its hold on third place on the Gippsland League football ladder.
With fifth-placed Traralgon, including former AFL stars Brendan Fevola and Nick Stevens, playing Morwell on Monday, the Eagles may have last night fallen to fifth position.
The Eagles chances of winning were dealt a blow with onballer Ben Coleman on the sidelines with an ankle injury. Coleman could also miss next weekend's match against Warragul.
The Eagles did welcome back James Huts and Dan O'Brien.

Jack Doderico played well on the wing, while Kel Porter and Alex Coleman worked hard on the ball.
Josh Davis was prominent in attack, finishing with two goals, while Daniel Bedggood kicked three.
Dominic O'Connor kicked five goals in a best-on-ground performance for Wonthaggi. Bryce Marshall and Aaron Ware also caused problems for the Eagles' back line.
Aaron Guilmartin did well in defence, while Jack Blair used the ball well on the wing.
Lions close again
FOR the second week in the row, Moe came close to recording its first win for the season.
After leading by 14 points at half-time, the Lions lost to Leongatha by 12 points, 13.16 (94) to 12.10 (82).
A five-goals to two third term gave the Parrots a five-point lead at the final change. The visitors held the edge in a tight final term.
Marc Truscio and Zach Vernon were the Parrots' best with Cade Maskell booting five goals.
The Lions were led by experienced players James Blaser and Leigh Sheehan. The side was bolstered by the inclusion of Gippsland Power player Declan Keilty.
Redlegs too strong
BAIRNSDALE was too strong for Warragul, winning by 41 points.
The visitors led by five points at quarter-time before a five-goal to two second term gave them the momentum.
In the second half the Redlegs kicked eight goals to four to win 16.12 (108) to 9.13 (67).
James Gibbs booted seven goals for the Redlegs and Luke Dyer three. Bayden Ashwood and Sam Nickless were the Redlegs' best.
Chris Carey was the Gulls' best, booting four goals.
