BELGRAVE breathed life into its Yarra Valley Mountain District Football League Division 1 campaign with a pulsating last-gasp win over Mount Evelyn on Saturday.

The Magpies trailed by 33 points at the six-minute mark of the final term before staging a remarkable comeback that was capped by a match-winning effort from Daniel Calteri.

The centre half-forward capitalised on a Mount Evelyn turnover and goaled to give Belgrave the lead with five seconds remaining.

The home side hung on to win, 13.14 (92) to 12.15 (87).

The win lifted the Magpies from seventh place into the top five.

Magpies spearhead Mitch Collins continued his solid form with six goals while Colin Stewart collected best-player accolades for his brilliant game.

For the Rovers, Cameron Carmody slotted four goals.

Meanwhile, in another thriller, a fast-finishing Wandin booted five goals in time-on to defeat Gembrook Cockatoo by a goal.

 

League leading goalkicker Michael Fowkes booted seven majors in the 19.16 (130) to 19.10 (124) victory. At the other end, Shannon Richardson kicked eight.

Playing coach Ricky Clark also slotted five goals for the seventh-on-the-ladder Brookers.

Upwey Tecoma remains top of the table after overcoming Woori Yallock, 14.11 (95) to 10.4 (64) at Woori Yallock. Daniel Waters led the goalkicking for the Tigers with four goals, while Kyle Grenda was influential with his best-on-ground performance on the day.

For Woori Yallock, Kody Busoli and Brendan Sneddon booted two goals each.

Warburton Millgrove moved up one place to third on the ladder thanks to an important 30-point win over Monbulk.

Scott Muir was the star for the Burras with eight goals in the 18.10 (118) to 13.10 (88) win.

For the Hawks, Luke McCormick and Shannon Koole teamed up for six goals.

Meanwhile, Olinda Ferny Creek posted their second win of the season, accountingfor Emerald, 17.10 (112) to 11.7 (73).

Blake Walter kicked five goals for the Bloods, while Jarrad Donders was a standout for the Bombers.
