MAFFRA will begin the second half of the Gippsland League football season at home against Moe.
With six wins from nine matches, the Eagles are well-placed for another push for a top three finish, and despite meeting a side yet to win a match tomorrow, should be wary of underestimating the Lions.
The Lions have not been far of the pace in recent weeks with losses to Warragul, Leongatha and Bairnsdale by two, 12 and 13 points respectively.
In round one at Moe, Maffra kicked its biggest score against the Lions for seven years in winning by 76 points. The Lions have improved since then.
Last weekend, the Eagles had to battle hard for victory against Warragul with a four-goal to one first term proving the difference.
The Eagles haven't been able to string together more than two wins together this season, something they will need to do to get out of the mid-table battle for finals places. They are a win and 41 percentage points behind third-placed Wonthaggi.
BACK on top of the ladder, Sale play at Traralgon tomorrow.
Victory against Morwell last Sunday saw the Magpies return to the top of the ladder on percentage with the focus now on at least securing a top three spot and the double chance during the finals.
In their 34-point win last Sunday, the Magpies showed the title contenders what needed to be done to match the premiers. The Magpies' strong back was able to shut down the Tigers' forward line.
The confidence the Magpies gained from that performance should serve them well during the second half of the season.
In round one at Sale, the Magpies had to work hard to defeat the Maroons, who have had an inconsistent season.
With traditionally one of the best home records, Traralgon has only won one of its four matches at home this season.
Traralgon's powerful first half saw it win at Leongatha last weekend to maintain a place in the top five.
WONTHAGGI can replace Morwell in second place when the sides meet tomorrow.
BAIRNSDALE will be looking for its first win at Leongatha since 1984.
DROUIN will host local rival Warragul this Sunday.
