STRATFORD slipped to second place on the East Gippsland football ladder after losing to Wy Yung in round 13.
Inaccurate early, the Tigers could have enjoyed a better break than the 11-point lead they took into quarter-time.
Stratford would hit back in the second term, restricting the Tigers to just one behind, but were also inaccurate with 2.6 for the quarter to take a one-goal lead into half-time.
Held scoreless in the third term, the Swans faced a 15-point deficit and the Tigers were able to keep them at bay, kicking four goals to two to run out 26-point victors.
Nathan Smith and Jason Sandford kicked two goals each for Wy Yung.
Tim Hawkins and Gavin Bickery stood tall in defence for Stratford, while Luke Clohesy, Tye Morrison and Michael Walker won their fair share of the ball.
Dylan Somerville put in a best-on-ground effort for the Tigers.
Gulls back on top
PAYNESVILLE reclaimed top of the table status with a hard fought 11-point win over Lucknow, 13.12 (90) to 11.13 (79).
Trailing for the majority of the first half and facing a 19-point deficit at half-time, the Gulls booted nine goals to four in the second half.
A five-goal to two third term reduced the margin to three points, with the Gulls going on with it in the final term.
Bairnsdale-listed Mark Sellings kicked five goals, while Brayden Radford and Damien Ashcroft were also among the Gulls' better players.
Shaun Ryan kicked three goals for Lucknow, while Brenton Martin was the Magpies' best.
Cats stay in touch
LINDENOW ensured it remained in touch with the top four with a big win over Orbost-Snowy Rovers, 21.15 (141) to 7.11 (53).
The Cats booted five goals to one in the first term and were never headed, adding another five in the second term before going on with it. The Cats finished strongly with a seven goal final term to run out 78-point victors.
Brett Walker kicked five majors for the Cats, while Michael Delaney and Daniel Pendergast kicked three goals each.
Jack Blair and Will Blackley continued their good form for Lindenow, while Daniel Kane was the Blues' best with two goals.
