THE inaugural seven-member AFL South East Region Commission to oversee the direction of football in the Frankston, Mornington and Casey-Cardinia regions has been announced.

The commission will work closely with senior and junior leagues, clubs and umpires.

It is one of 13 regional commissions established throughout Victoria under AFL Victoria's new country football administration structure.

Experienced football man Jeff Kimber takes the chair in the inaugural South East commission.

Kimber is a former chairman of the Riverland FL in South Australia, former finance director of the Western Border league, inaugural president of Echuca United FNC and has held roles at Sale and Wonthaggi Rovers clubs.

He has a strong corporate background with 30 years in finance and four years in aquaculture before settling in Mornington, where he runs a news agency.

Kimber is joined on the commission by former State MP Tammy Lobato, corporate affairs executive Karen de Villiers, past vice president of the VCFL Tony Mitchell, local business identity Ken Jungwirth, MPNFL life member Russell Jacgung and former umpire Scott Grimster.

The commission's next job is to appoint a general manager and set up an administration base.

The South East commission will oversee the PCN Alliance, the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula junior leagues, and the Southern Umpires.
