SCOTT Meyer says season 2013 will go down as one of his most enjoyable.

After five years in the VFL with Williamstown, followed by three at the Wodonga Raiders, Meyer came home to Beaconsfield at the start of the year - and he's glad he did.

The 27-year-old's dominant season was rewarded on Monday night when he won the Norm Walker Medal as the best and fairest player in the Casey Cardinia league.

He polled 28 votes to finish well clear of Madison Andrews (Berwick) and Matthew Wade (Tooradin-Dalmore), both on 22.

Meyer was a dominant force throughout the season as Beaconsfield made it to the preliminary final.

"I really enjoyed coming back to the club,'' Meyer said.

"I played all my junior footy here.

"I enjoyed having the freedom that Boofa (coach Clint Evans) gave me to play on ball and pinch hit up forward.

"He sort of left me to do my own thing.''

Growing up in Nar Nar Goon, Meyer joined Beaconsfield's juniors at the age of eight and played there from Under 10s to Under 18s, before spending two years with the Gippsland Power.

He excelled at Williamstown, but couldn't attract the attention of AFL scouts.

"It would have been fantastic (to make an AFL list) but from my point of view I did as much as I could, but I didn't quite make it,'' he said.

Meyer, who kicked 25 goals this season, said he has no plans to play anywhere else.

He is Beaconsfield's first Walker medallist since Robbie Taylor in 2004.

The reserves medal was won by Jacob Huisman (Pakenham).

The Under 18s medal went to Hayden Spierings (Narre Warren), and the Under 18s development medal was won by Joshua Craig (Hampton Park).
