Seven goals from Darren Sheen helped Maffra to a comfortable 31-point win over Leongatha on Anzac Day.
The Eagles kicked seven goals to three to create a handy 25-point buffer at half time, before holding out the Parrots in a competitive second half to run out winner, 15.8 (98) to 10.7 (67).
Booting five goals to four in the third term to extend the lead to 33 points, the Eagles held off the Parrots in the final term, answering every challenge with each team booting three majors.
Sheen proved the focal point up forward for the Eagles, and was instrumental in the win with his seven majors.
Daniel O'Brien and Winston Giechen also hit the scoreboard with two majors to be among the better players, while Brad Caldwell also chipped in with two goals of his own.
Kelvin Porter and Ben Coleman won the important midfield battles, providing drive from the centre.
Nick Nagle led the way for the Parrots with five goals.
Zac Vernon and Nathan Lynch provided rebound from defence, while Aaron Hillberg was a mobile target around the gorund.
Big win for Bairnsdale
A TEN-goal opening quarter raid set-up Bairnsdale's big win over Warragul, also on Anzac Day.
The Redlegs proved too quick for the Gulls, with the defenders and midfielders providing run and carry. Attacking the centre corridor, the Bairnsdale forwards were deadly accurate, opening up a 10-goal lead on the way to an easy win, 22.11 (143) to 6.3 (39).
The Gulls pushed play wide in the second term, utilising the boundary and won the quarter with four goals to the Redlegs' three.
Bairnsdale responded after the main break, booting 10 goals to the Gulls' two to run out easy winners.
James Gibbs finished off the hard work up the ground with eight majors, while Alex Saunders booted five of his own to be among the better players. Dale Johnson set up many attacks from defence, while youngster Dean Jamieson was prominent.
Chris Carey, Lachlan Petch, Brad Scalzo and Josh Helliwell toiled hard for the Gulls.
Maroons too strong
TRARALGON enjoyed a big win on its newly developed ground, accounting for Drouin 23.22 (160) to 3.3 (21).
The Maroons were boosted by the inclusion of former St Kilda and Gold Coast player Andrew McQualter. The former Traralgon junior is now a development coach for Richmond's VFL side.
Traralgon could have enjoyed a greater margin than the 25 points at quarter-time with a wasteful 3.8 for the term. The Maroons were ruthless on the young Drouin side for the remainder of the contest, booting seven goals in both the second and third term before rounding it out with a further six to run out easy victors.
It could be a long season for the Hawks, who have only managed three goals in each match to date.
Tim Johnston enjoyed a day out for the Maroons with nine majors, while Jackson Hall and Michael Stockdale were also hard to contain with five and four goals respectively.
Michael Geary and Tim Northe crept forward to hit the scoreboard and, along with Johnston, were among the Maroons better players.
Brod Fraser battled hard for Drouin.
