BAIRNSDALE showed it means business, coming home from Wonthaggi with a tight four-point win, 11.8 (74) to 9.16 (70).

In a tight contest which ebbed and flowed, the Redlegs overan the Power in the final term with three goals to one to steal it.

Aaron Ware kicked three goals in a best afield effort, and the inaccurate Power certainly had their opportunities to put the Redlegs away.

James Gibbs was best for Bairnsdale, kicking five goals.

Lions account for Hawks

MOE did as expected and comfortably accounted for Drouin, 16.16 (112) to 7.8 (50).

The Lions broke away after a tight first term and finished full of running, adding six goals in the final term to stitch up a comfortable win.

Moe had influential players on each line, with Peter Ainsworth defending well, James Blaser winning the ball in the middle and Charlie Rienets booting five majors up forward.

Liam Axford booted four goals to put some respectability into the Hawks' score.

Maroons clip Gulls

TRARALGON did as it pleased, thumping cellar dweller Warragul 28.18 (186) to 2.3 (15).

The Maroons kicked seven goals in the first term and didn't let-up, adding six in both the second and third terms to kill the contest. Warragul scored its two goals in the final term, but the Maroons continued to be ruthless, adding nine majors in the final term.

Traralgon had plenty of contributors with Leigh Stockdale, Jackson Hall, Michael Burge, Tim Johnston and Tim Northe all hitting the scoreboard.

Chris Lee and Brad Scalzo battled hard for the Gulls.
