COWWARR returned to the winners' list with an emphatic victory over Boisdale-Briagolong.

Keeping their North Gippsland football finals pulse beating, the Saints were sublime with their 51-point victory, 16.13 (109) to 8.10 (58).

Led by Simon Ferguson and Brett Street, the fleet-footed Saints midfield ran rampant after a tight opening term.

Starting strongly, Boisdale-Briagolong wasn't intimidated by its higher ranked opponents. Led by Kyle Ashton, the Bombers kept with the home side in the first term to trail by two points at quarter-time.

The momentum swung the way of the home side in the second term.

Linden Brunt and Shane Morgan were the go-to men in front of goal, booting three goals each. They were two of eight individual goal scorers who troubled the Bombers' defence in the second half as the Saints booted eight goals to three.

It was the visitor's goalless third quarter which proved costly the Bombers matched the Saints on the scoreboard in the final term.

First away win

YARRAM recorded its first away win in North Gippsland football, prevailing against Glengarry by three points.

Little separated the two sides throughout the contest. Glengarry skipped away to an early two-goal lead before the Demons booted four goals to two in the second term to level the scores at the long change then led by nine points at the final break.

The two sides went blow-for-blow during the final quarter. Ben Truin and Josh King were the go-to men in front of goal for the Magpies, while Brady Davis lit up the forward line for the Demons.

The Magpies kept within arm's reach of the visitors as they come home strongly, however the Demons' third term lead was enough to ensure they held on in a nail biting victory, 14.11 (95) to 14.8 (92).

Yarram defender Trek Davis impressed to claim best-on-ground honours, coach Grif Underwood backed up his efforts with Matt Clavarino providing a contest in the packs.

Glengarry's goals came through Truin, who scored six, and King, five. Dean Brooks continued his solid form, while ruckman Luke Forbes played the general role.

Roos prevail

HEYFIELD kicked away from Gormandale in the second half, winning 25.19 (169) to 7.8 (50).

In a low scoring opening term played in dry conditions, the Tigers held the Kangaroos at bay, however they couldn't sustain it for longer than a term.

Leading by two points at quarter-time, the home side chipped away on the scoreboard in the second term, but it wasn't until they put their foot down and came to life in the second half that the floodgates opened. The Kangaroos slammed home 19 goals to four as they flexed their muscle after the main break.

Jess Jackway was the main figure in front of goal for Heyfield, kicking six majors. Daniel Stevens added four to his handy season tally, while Daniel Stubbe, Joel Dinsdale, Jesse Bedggood and Kodie Woodland made the most of their opportunities, booting three each.

Josh Stubbe and ball magnet, Jack Woodland worked tirelessly around the ground, while the presence of defender Brenton Dinsdale also benefited the Kangaroos.

Special win

Victory over Traralgon-Tyers United held special significance for Churchill as it claimed the Crocka Cup, named in memory of club legend David 'Crocka' Williams.

Having worn the number 13 guernsey over his career, David's son Chris wore it with pride on Saturday as the Cougars blitzed the Bombers.

After a tight beginning, the Cougars slowly took command to lead by 15 points at quarter-time.

The Bombers had chances to reel in the deficit, but poor execution into the forward line hampered the forwards' chances. The Cougars kicked five goals to two for the term to bury the contest.

The second half was one-way traffic as the Cougars added a further 10 majors to win 20.12 (132) to 8.12 (60), record their third win on the run and strengthen their hold on fourth position.

Jarrod Broadbent stood-out for the Cougars, Travis Brighton was the impetus in the engine room, while Jordon Fenech was handy. Brad Knowles kicked five goals.

ROSEDALE, Sale City and Woodside had byes.
