MAFFRA consolidated its place in the Gippsland League football top five with an 80-point win at Moe.

The fifth-placed Eagles are now eight points ahead of Traralgon in sixth.

The Eagles were rarely troubled, winning 15.12 (102) to 3.4 (22).

Moe's score equals its lowest ever score against the Eagles, set 10 years ago.

Darren Sheen and Daniel Bedggood were a lethal combination in attack, kicking six and five goals respectively.

Best-on-ground Ben Batalha, Ben Coleman and Winston Gieschen ran rings around the Lions.

James Read and Batalha led a strong defence, which only conceded three goals.

Sam Tudor also contributed across the ground.

The Eagles only kicked two goals from eight scoring shots in the first term while only conceding two behind.

It was during the second quarter the visitors put the outcome beyond doubt, booting six goals to one to head into the main break 48 points ahead.

The Eagles kicked three unanswered goals in the third term before a more even final term had the visitors kicking four goals to two.

Onballer Nick Williams was the Lions' best player, with Ben Morrow doing well in the ruck.

Tigers fall from top

MORWELL has relinquished top spot after an 11-point defeat at Wonthaggi.

A five-goal to two first term gave the Power an ideal start, and it maintained the 18-point lead at half-time.

The Tigers lifted in the third term, kicking four goals to one before the Power had the better of the final term, winning 11.9 (75) to 10.4 (64).

Byron Dryden, Aiden Lindsay and Aaron combined well for the Power, setting up many attacking opportunities. Early Shaw booted four goals.

Ash Close kicked five goals for the Tigers.

Redlegs dominated

BAIRNSDALE dominated its clash against Leongatha, winning 19.10 (124) to 2.7 (19) at home on Saturday night.

Redlegs co-captain James Gibbs continued his rich vein of form, kicking 11 goals, the best by a Bairnsdale player against the Parrots, while Lloyd Powell impressed in the midfield.

The Parrots score is their lowest ever against Bairnsdale, surpassing the 5.6 (36) they scored in 1969.

Gulls grab win

WARRAGUL recorded its second win over the season, defeating local rival Drouin by 24 points.

The Gulls kicked five goals to two in the first term, and controlled the contest from there, eventually winning 9.9 (63) to 5.9 (39).

Brad Scalzo and Bryce Monahan were best for the Gulls, who are now two wins clear of the bottom-placed Hawks on the ladder.
