Gippsland Times | STRATFORD'S undefeated East Gippsland football season continued with a 108-point defeat of Lakes Entrance.
The 20.28 (148) to 6.4 (40) result at home is a worrying sign for a Seagulls side many expected to improve in 2015.
The reigning premier jumped out of the blocks in the first quarter, however the Swans found the big sticks hard to come by, mustering only 1.8 for the term.
A more accurate second quarter had them take a 27-point lead into half-time. The Swans essentially put the game to bed in the third term, kicking 6.7 to Lakes Entrance's 2.0.
Stratford not only ensured a win, but also a major percentage boost with an eight-goal to one final quarter. Jack Bacon finished with a game high five goals, while Patrick Gordon also contributed four in the win.
Zachary Svetlik was named as the Seagulls' best, but it was a day of few highlights for the home side. Despite the loss, the Seagulls sit in fourth place on the ladder, however their percentage of 64.1 is the second worst in the league.
Three in row for Gulls
PAYNESVILLE made it three wins on the trot with a 68-point victory over Orbost-Snowy Rovers.
The Blues continued their recent trend of getting off to a strong start, taking a two-point lead into quarter-time.
However, the Gulls responded in the second term to lead by 24 at half-time, before a 10-goal to four second half ensured victory, 19.14 (128) to 9.6 (60).
Jordan Farquhar kicked five goals in a best-on-ground performance, while Ben Haslam and Daniel Gaunt also contributed on the scoreboard for Paynesville, kicking four and three goals respectively.
THE split round will conclude this weekend with Boisdale-Briagolong hosting Lucknow, and Lindenow heading to Wy Yung.
