LEARN from your losses. That's the simple mantra that has worked for Gembrook Cockatoo so far this Division 1 season.

Last week, the top-of-the-table Brookers suffered just their second loss of the year when they went down to Emerald by a solitary point.

But, they bounced back in the best possible fashion on Saturday, outclassing Mount Evelyn by 56 points, 21.10 (136) to 12.8 (80).

Gembrook Cockatoo coach Travis Marsham said his players had a point to prove after kicking themselves out of the contest against the Bombers.

"The boys were definitely disappointed and I told them it's OK to lose as long as you learn from it and grow. That's the true test," Marsham said.

"After our last loss to Wandin in round 5 we went on to win our next five games. It really stung us in to action and I got the same feeling (it would happen) this week."

"They responded and showed what we were looking for and that's the true sign of a good side."

Ricky Clark and Shannon Richardson were influential while Craig Clarke dominated the ruck battles and Nathan Brown curbed the influence of dangerous Rovers coach Chris Murphy. Marsham praised defender Nathan Leversha for keeping star Mount Evelyn recruit Damian Cupido to just two goals.

MEANWHILE, Woori Yallock smashed Wandin by 51 points with the league's leading goal kicker Daniel Lewis kicking seven goals for the Tigers.

Olinda Ferny Creek, third, claimed a pivotal one-goal win over Emerald, Warburton Millgrove was a comfortable 54-point winner over Healesville and Michael Hughson booted five goals as Monbulk defeated Upwey Tecoma by 62 points.
