meltonThe Courier |MELTON coach Brad Murphy will determine if his side can make the Ballarat Football League finals before making a decision to return to the field this year.

Murphy received news on Tuesday that his Achilles injury is not as bad as first thought, although he will still be ruled out for a minimum of four weeks.

However, he said he expected to be unable to play for at least six weeks, which would leave his side with four matches remaining in the season.

However, the Bloods coach said he would only return if his side could still qualify for finals. In addition to inflammation of his Achilles, he is also suffering bursitis around his heel.

"I will just see how we are going before I try and rush back," Murphy said.

"It's better than I first thought but it's still probably unlikely I will be back this year."

Murphy said he had not yet decided if his playing career, or his time at Melton, would extend beyond 2015.
