st arnaudWimmera-Mail Times |ST ARNAUD blew a chance to distance itself on top of the North Central Football League ladder on Saturday, going down to Wycheproof-Narraport by 42 points.

With Wedderburn beating Charlton, the Saints had a golden opportunity to skip two games clear of the chasing pack, but were greeted by a hungry Demons side that never gave them a chance.

Ricky Allen kicked six goals for Wycheproof-Narraport as it comprehensively won the first three quarters to lead by 49 points at the final change.

While the attacking reputation of the Saints always gave them a chance of a come-from-behind win, they never looked capable as the Demons cantered to the 17.19 (121) to 11.13 (79) victory.

Chris Howgate was the standout for the Demons, while Nick Coghlan kicked five goals as one of the Saints' best on Saturday.

St Arnaud remains a game clear on top of the table, but sides positioned between second and fifth all have four wins.

In another mouth-watering match, Wedderburn kept its jittery season on track, dispatching a wayward Charlton side 17.9 (111) to 9.16 (70).

Ben Dearaugo proved the difference for the Redbacks, kicking eight goals.

Boort remains winless from seven outings in 2015, after another crushing defeat.

This time it was Birchip-Watchem dishing out the emphatic 21.10 (136) to 4.7 (31) drubbing.

Donald had a bye at the weekend, and thanks to some favourable results, still sits third on the ladder.
