Wimmera-Mail Times |WITH FOUR teams locked on four wins and another on three, the North Central Football League competition is as tight as it has been in a long time.
Fresh off a bye, Donald will take on a fired up Wycheproof-Narraport side on Saturday off the back of the Demons' impressive upset of ladder-leaders St Arnaud.
The Royal Blues are third on the the ladder but are desperate to take the points as the race for the top four heats up.
Coach Luke Fisher said the week off had given the young side a chance to freshen up and he expected it to fire.
''I think the bye has done us some favours with a couple of niggling injuries, and I'd say we'll come out revved up,'' he said.
''There's lots at stake with the way the results are at the moment, so we'll have to put our best foot forward.''
Fisher said Donald was aware of the Demons' strengths and would put a lot of time into Ricky Allen, who kicked six goals against the Saints last week.
''If we can shut him and others down and get our hands on the footy first, we'll be a chance,'' he said.
''Other than that I think the bigger ground will suit us. Hopefully our skill and run can beat theirs.''
The Royal Blues are a chance to welcome back Ross Funcke after more than a month on the sidelines, while Darcy Harrison could also return.
St Arnaud will look to return to winning form when it takes on Charlton at home, while Wedderburn will attempt to continue its resurgence after an indifferent start when it hosts Birchip-Watchem.
Boort Magpies have a bye.
