Bendigo Advertiser |THE Loddon Valley Football League home and away season is set for a thrilling climax on Saturday, with the double chance and a spot in the top five still up for grabs.
The equation is simple for Bears Lagoon-Serpentine and Calivil United when they square off at Serpentine.
With both teams locked on 8-7 records in third and fourth spot, the winner will finish third, earn the double chance and meet Pyramid Hill in next week’s qualifying final at Bridgewater.
The Bears won their first encounter by 24 points in round nine, but it’s the Demons who will carry the favourites tag into Saturday’s return bout after Bears Lagoon-Serpentine has lost four of its past six games.
As well as who will grab third spot, the other key interest in the final round is which of Mitiamo or Marong will finish fifth.
Both sides have 7-8 records, but the Superoos are holding onto fifth courtesy of a significant 24 per cent buffer over the Panthers.
The Panthers have won their past two and should make it three on the trot when they take on bottom side Inglewood.
If Marong – as expected – beats Inglewood, the Superoos need to defeat the improving YCW at Backhaus Oval to hang onto fifth spot and play finals for the first time since 2011.
In Saturday’s other game to round out the home and away season, Pyramid Hill should be too strong when it travels to play Newbridge.
