Bendigo Advertiser | SOUTH Bendigo has won two in a row for the first time in two years after thumping Maryborough by 100 points at Barkers Oval on Saturday.
The Bloods conceded just three goals after quarter-time in winning 21.19 (145) to 6.9 (45) to notch their fourth win of the season.
“Maryborough cracked in early at the contest, but we were able to win enough of the footy and create some space with our run. We used the footy well for most of the day, but our goalkicking wasn’t great and we probably should have had another seven or eight,” Bloods coach Steven Oliver said.
Michael Tonkin kicked five goals for the Bloods to be among their best, along with defender Brad Wright, Niall McDonagh, Charlton Hindle (three goals) and centre half-back Blake O’Halloran.
In what was Maryborough’s sixth loss in a row by at least 100 points, Bendigo Pioneer Bailey Edwards, James Macer, Coby Perry and Bodie Malone played well.
Meanwhile, after forfeiting last week, Maryborough’s reserves won their first game with a 10-point victory.
