darleyThe Courier |DARLEY will be monitoring the health of a few key players who went down with injuries in their thumping win over Sebastopol on Saturday.

Ryan Closter appeared to injure his calf in the heavy mud at Marty Busch Reserve, while star player Jake Edwards suffered what coach Jarrod Edwards described as “just a slight niggle”.

After an even first term, the Devils put Sebastopol to the sword after quarter time to set up the 19.10 (124) to 8.1 (49) victory.

Dan Grenfell kicked six goals, while Steve Kennedy was best on ground with four goals from the midfield.

However, Edwards was left disappointed with the fact the game was still held in the heavy mud at Sebastopol, even though the Redan had its home game moved to Wendouree Reserve.

On that occasion, Redan and the Lakers agreed to the change, but Edwards said his club wasn’t aware that was possible.

“It’s definitely going to have an impact on us playing on that ground compared to a clean deck,” he said.

“You can’t say that caused the injuries but the thick mud didn’t help.”
