Bendigo Advertiser | MITIAMO sent Pyramid Hill crashing out of the Loddon Valley Football League finals in straight sets on Sunday.
The Superoos proved too strong in the first semi-final at Backhaus Oval, winning by 24 points – 13.14 (92) to 9.14 (68) – to progress through to the preliminary final against Bears Lagoon-Serpentine.
After leading by 10 points at half-time, the Superoos kicked away from the Bulldogs in the third term with a 7.5 to 3.4 quarter.
“Our third quarter set the game up... Brayden Baines was super out on a wing and we were able to get control in the middle,” Mitiamo coach Denis Grinton said.
“Our tackling pressure was good all day and we made the right decisions at the right times.”
Korey Fulton followed up his six goals in last week’s elimination final with five for the Superoos, whose best players were led by midfield duo Terrence Reeves and Dougie Thomas and ruckman Michael I’Anson.
Pyramid Hill was again best served by Michael Callinan, Jake Anderson and Bryden Morison.
“Mitiamo played a good brand of footy and capitalised on their opportunities, and we were sloppy,” Bulldogs coach Paul Grayling said.
The straight-sets exit comes in a season that had promised plenty after the Bulldogs beat Bridgewater in round five, but has again delivered disappointment.
