redan fcThe Courier | REDAN coach Eammon Gill concedes his side might be facing mental demons when it comes to the preliminary final.

The Lions’ bombed out in the penultimate finals game for the third year in a row on Saturday, despite going in as warm favourites.

Redan claimed the minor premiership this year and had beaten North Ballarat City on three previous occasions, only to once again lose in the preliminary final.

“Is it a mental thing? I’m not sure,” coach Eammon Gill said after the game.

“I think it might be mental for some of them.”

“This year we knew we were better and again, we didn’t perform in finals,” Gill said.

“It’s bitterly disappointing to come out and start like that.

“When the game was there to be won we just weren’t in the game and out to play and I can’t understand why.”
