Bendigo Advertiser | THE Heathcote District Football-Netball League set a new record gate for its grand final as a massive crowd paid $59,000 at Huntly’s Hy-Line Australia Oval on Saturday.
Seven clubs were featured on grand final day, while the senior football match between Leitchville-Gunbower and North Bendigo promised plenty and duly delivered.
No more than 15 points separated the Bombers and Bulldogs, with North Bendigo snapping a 38-year premiership drought by winning by 10 points, 10.13 (73) to 8.15 (63).
For the Bulldogs, it was redemption for last year’s grand final defeat to Lockington-Bamawm United.
There was also redemption in the A-grade netball match, with Colbinabbin winning a one-sided grand final against North Bendigo by 21 goals.
A year earlier North Bendigo beat Colbinabbin by seven goals.
Saturday’s nine premierships on the football field and netball court were shared between four clubs.
North Bendigo and Colbinabbin each won three, Leitchville-Gunbower claimed two, while White Hills won one.
