marong aBendigo Advertiser |FORMER Carlton and Brisbane star Brendan Fevola will play a one-off game for Marong next month.

Fevola has agreed to play for the Panthers in their Loddon Valley Football Netball League clash with Pyramid Hill on April 23.

“We’d talked about it (signing Fevola) for a few weeks, we put an offer to his management and he agreed to play,’’ Marong coach Damien Lock said.

“The Mick Herrick Memorial game means a lot to the club and we want to make it a big day.

“We want to get as many people as we can to the ground and it should be a big buzz for everyone involved.”

Lock’s final season with Carlton in 1999 was Fevola’s first year with the Blues.

“It should be a lot of fun having him play out of the goalsquare,’’ Lock said.

“We’ll try to open up the forward line for him and give him every opportunity.

“He should be in good shape for the game because he lost a lot of weight on that reality TV show.”

Earlier this month, Fevola won I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here on Channel 10.

After spending the past few seasons playing for Yarrawonga in the Ovens and Murray Football League, Fevola will spend the majority of this season playing for Deer Park in the Western Region Football League.

It won’t be the first time Fevola has made a cameo appearance in Bendigo.

On Good Friday in 2014, he played a one-off match for Kangaroo Flat against Golden Square in the BFNL.

In front of a huge crowd at Dower Park, Fevola kicked 4.2 as the Roos lost by six points.
