The Saints were well beaten by league leaders Donald in what had shaped as an intriguing battle in the lead up.
It was Donald’s fourth win from as many matches.
Seamus Young continued his rich run of goal-kicking form, booting three majors for the Royal Blues, to sit atop the league goal kicking table.
Jonathon Neville was in equally good touch for the victors, slotting four majors.
Both were named in their team’s best.
A standout performance from Brody Haddow saw him named best on ground for the Royal Blues.
For the Saints, Caleb Bloomer took the honours ahead of Beau Knight and Ben Batters.
In other results, Boort sits third on the ladder after a 10-point win over Birchip-Watchem.
The Magpies led early, but a spirited fightback from Birchip-Watchem in the second quarter saw the side take a five-point lead into the main break.
Three goals to one in the third quarter had Boort in the box seat heading into the final term.
Both teams managed two goals each in the fourth quarter, with the Magpies holding on to win 9.10 (64) to 8.6 (54).
Best for Boort was James Orr while Brodie Leonard-Shannon kicked five goals.
Michael Monteith was best afield for Birchip-Watchem.

The Redbacks took the honours in the first two quarters, but a six-goal effort by Simon Weekley proved the difference as the Tigers ran out winners 12.17 (89) to 11.7 (73). Danny Benaim kicked four for Wedderburn.
Wycheproof-Narraport maintained its unbeaten start to the season with a 34-point victory against Charlton.
A strong second quarter by Charlton was in vain as the Demons charged home to win 15.13 (103) to 10.9 (69).
