East Point easily got home against Darley at the Eastern Oval on Saturday.

EAST POINT 16.13 (109)

DARLEY 9.12 (66)

INACCURATE kicking and a lack of discipline cost Darley dearly as it went down to East Point by 43 points at the Eastern Oval in the most eagerly anticipated Ballarat Football League match this week.

Six goals to Dan Jordan and four to Jayden Hind set up the victory, with the Kangaroos finishing at 16.13 (109) to Darley's 9.11 (65).

Darley started the better of the two sides, kicking the first four goals of the contest, with Mark Hanson and Dane Grenfell leading a potent Devils forward line.

In front of their home supporters, the Kangaroos fought back by kicking the next three goals, with Dan Jordan leading from the front kicking two of the three.

Although the Roos had two more scoring shots than their opponent, it was Darley that led by eight points at quarter time, kicking five goals straight for the quarter.

East Point started to win the midfield battle in the second term with Jason Delaney and Hayden Walters providing plenty of scoring opportunities for Jordan and others to take advantage of.

Aided by some lack of discipline from the Devils, East was able to take control of the match and turn an eight-point quarter-time deficit into a 16-point half-time lead.

Harley Inglis continued to impress in the midfield for the Devils, but he was lacking support from his teammates, who allowed the Kangaroos to gain the upper hand both physically and mentally.

The third quarter was a struggle between the two sides with the first goal being kicked more than halfway through the quarter by Inglis.

Hoewever, this was matched by a running goal from Jayden Hind which once again gave the home side some breathing space.

Dan Jordan made it two within as many minutes with his fourth of the afternoon, opening up a 20-point advantage which, given the conditions, would provide a difficult challenge the Devils were not up to.

East Point coach Jordan said he was really happy with the effort of the whole side.

"They are a confident side and once they get up and running they really enjoy it and we start seeing results; it's been tough since round one (loss to North City) to get that confidence back, but now it seems like we have it going into the bye," he said.

Darley coach Rod MacPherson highlighted the differences between things that his side could control and things it couldn't.

"We got hit fairly hard with injuries which exposed our depth in the club, but when you kick 2.8 against Sunbury in the last quarter, and then 6.16 against Ballarat a week later, they are the sorts of things you can control so we need to really work on that," he said.
