DERICK Micallef and Ryan Waight will represent AFL Vic Country against the VAFA on Sunday.
North Ballarat City’s Micallef has been selected in Vic Country’s number one team in his first season back in the Red Onion Ballarat Football League.
Waight has been a regular state representative in his decorated career with Redan.
Micallef, who began his BFL career with Redan, returned to the competition after being a VFL premiership player with North Ballarat Roosters.
Micallef’s North Ballarat City teammate Ryan Luke is on standby as the team’s only emergency.
Former Melton South assistant coach Leigh Burke, who was among the BFL’s best players against Bendigo in the AFL Victoria Country Championship this year is also in the state team.
Sunbury’s Greg Hay will line up in the Vic Country under-19 team against the VAFA in a curtain-raiser.
MEANWHILE, Newlyn coach Adam Sewell is one of two CHFL players in the second Vic Country team to also meet the VAFA on Sunday.
Sewell, who will captain the side, will be joined by Waubra’s Dean Kelly.
