Match Reviews | Ultima broke Hay’s unbeaten run in Saturday’s 14th round in the Golden Rivers senior footy action.
In a rematch of last season’s grand finalists it was Ultima which won three quarters of the match on its turf to claim an 88-64 victory.
The Lions were gunning for a 14th consecutive win, but Ultima was too strong.
The Kangaroos led 26-24 at quarter-time, but the Lions accuracy was a key factor as it scored 7.1 to 6.5 in the first half.
Ultima won the third term, 25-22, and then added 3.4 to 1.3 in the last to complete an 88-64 victory.
Ryan Devereux led the Kangaroos’ attack on five goals as Bailey Codling added three.
Leading goalkickers for the Lions were Jack Bone, Jack Cattanach and Kenneth Jubb on two each.
Ultima’s best were Mitchell Seton-Stewart, Ed Kuchel, Thomas Bull, Corey Grey, Matt Taverna and Lincoln Frost.
Jack Cattanach, James Moran, Dean Aylett, Nathan Wilson, Hugh Crighton and Daniel Stewart played well for Hay.
Moulamein marked an upset win at Macorna.
