Bendigo Advertiser | STRATHFIELDSAYE banked its first four points in its Bendigo Football League premiership defence, emerging victorious from the grand final rematch against Sandhurst by 13 points on Friday night.
The Storm triumphed 11.16 (82) to 10.9 (69) at the Queen Elizabeth Oval.
“We were in front at the end, but Sandhurst had a real crack at us,” Storm coach Darryl Wilson said.
“They are a good side and we probably had a good enough gap on them for most of the night, but having only one on the bench at the end didn’t help.
“It was one of those games where you’d say we had to guts it out."
The Storm suffered three injury blows out of the contest - Matt Johnston (broken leg), Lachlan Sharp (hamstring) and Kellan Smith (rolled ankle).
