benflBendigo Advertiser | MEMO to coach Rick Ladson – you’ve got no shortage of talent to pick from for this year’s BFL inter-league team.

I’ve certainly found that out this week when putting together a list of my top 20 Bendigo Football League players, which has been no easy task confining it as there’s some damn good players who have been squeezed out – Casey Summerfield, Nick Stagg, Steven Baker, Jake Hall, Nick Smith, Scott Walsh, Lee Coghlan, Shannon Geary, Hamish Morcom, Corey Greer, Aaron Connaughton and Ryan Carafa just to name a few.

Actually, that’s another dozen.

Despite the very strong likelihood that recruits such as Kyneton’s Alik and Rhys Magin, Strathfieldsaye’s David Gallagher and Kallen Geary, Golden Square’s Ryan Herring and James Sullivan and Castlemaine’s Justin Dorward will be among the top echelon of talent this season, I’ve restricted the list to just players who have previously been part of the league.

20. Matt Smith (Strathfieldsaye) – one of those no-fuss footballers every coach would love to have in their team. Does all the little things well and a key cog in the Storm engine room, as well as in the BFL’s inter-league win over Gippsland last year.

19. Tyler Miles (Eaglehawk) – making his mark as one of the quality defenders in the BFL. Can be matched-up on talls or smalls and coming off a consistent 2014 in which he was both an inter-league representative and Addy Team of the Year defender.
