Bendigo Advertiser | SOUTH Bendigo coach Steven Oliver will implore his players to take risks in an effort to conjure more goals against Golden Square at Harry Trott Oval on Saturday.
The Bloods were held to just three goals in a 102-point loss to Eaglehawk in their opening match of the Bendigo Football League season last week.
"With the amount of new guys we've got, we're still finding out where guys can play and who is best suited where," Oliver said on Friday.
"From our perspective, we've got to play accountable footy, but our guys also have to be brave enough to run forward and take risks when we've got the ball and make that transition a bit cleaner.
"We've got to win more of the footy in the midfield and start taking more contested marks in our forward line, so there's plenty to work on."
While the Bloods kicked a score of just 3.7 (25) last week, Oliver was content with the amount of ball the Bloods won, but disappointed in the costly skill errors that plagued his side.
"We got enough of the footy, but we turned it over far too much," Oliver said.
"We gifted Eaglehawk probably seven or eight goals with turnovers.
"We believe the gameplan we're trying will get us some rewards, and while everyone wants those rewards immediately, we've got to work at it.
