Heathcote District Football Netball LeagueBendigo Advertiser |THREE new power forwards will be unleashed when the 2015 Heathcote District Football League season kicks off on Saturday.

North Bendigo will unveil its new star goalkicking duo Brady Herdman and Sam Barnes when it travels to Lockington for the grand final rematch against the four-time defending premier Cats.

Herdman and Barnes have been integral in Wedderburn's domination of the North Central Football League the past four years and will be key cogs in North Bendigo's bid to end a 38-year flag drought.

And after five seasons away, Colbinabbin welcomes back one of its favourite sons in goalkicking machine Grant Weeks.

The Grasshoppers - tipped to be one of this year's flag contenders - open what is their centenary season at home against White Hills.

In other round one HDFL games on Saturday, Huntly hosts Heathcote and Leitchville-Gunbower meets Mount Pleasant at Gunbower.

Mount Pleasant duo Brad King and Trevor Douglas will both play their 200th games for the Blues.

The North Central Football League also starts on Saturday, with the feature game the grand final rematch between Wedderburn and Charlton.
