Bendigo Advertiser | PYRAMID Hill coach Paul Grayling has the Bulldogs on guard against a let-down on Saturday following last week’s win over Loddon Valley powerhouse Bridgewater.
The Bulldogs were last week the team that ended Bridgewater’s 28-game winning streak, coming from four goals down in the final quarter to win by 13 points.
But Grayling knows all the good work of last week can be quickly undone if the Bulldogs don’t back it up with a strong showing against YCW at Backhaus Oval.
“We want to attack each week the same, and that’s what good sides do,” Grayling said on Friday.
“Good sides bring it week in, week out as far as being switched on and bringing the same amount of concentration and energy to each game regardless of who it is, and that’s something we’ve addressed since that loss to Mitiamo (two weeks ago).”
Last week’s upset win over the Mean Machine improved Pyramid Hill to 3-1, while Saturday’s opponent, YCW, is 1-3.
However, Grayling only has to think back to last year when the Bulldogs had to come from behind at three quarter-time against YCW to understand the Eagles won’t be any pushovers on their home ground.
“We never have an easy day at YCW, regardless of how they may be travelling,” Grayling said.
“They look to be a good, young side and one that has had some change, so it will take a bit of time to gel.
“We certainly don’t expect it to be a walk in the park.”
Grayling says the four recruits the Bulldogs landed from VFL club Coburg - Jake Anderson, Fabian Brancatisano, Danko Bzenic and Nicholas Dundon - have fitted in well at their new club.
“They’re going well and are loving it,” Grayling said.
“We have got a good club as far as accepting new people and making them feel part of it.
“And they are all playing good footy as well.”
Meanwhile, Balraj Singh has been named in the Pyramid Hill side.
The Bulldogs have this week lodged an investigation into an incident in the second quarter against Bridgewater last week after which Singh took no further part in the game.
