FIVE goals from Jayden Hind helped East Point to a commanding 110-point victory over an undermanned but spirited Sebastopol outfit on Saturday.
EAST POINT 26.14 (170)
SEBASTOPOL 8.12 (60)
The Red Lion Kangaroos started relatively slowly, contrary to the expectations of many, but the forward line set up of Hind, together with Sam Cooper and Dan Jordan, kicked into gear soon after.
East Point still managed to kick the first four goals of the contest, with Sam Cooper, Brad Whittaker, Jayden Hind and Tom Cashin all hitting the scoreboard, but Brent Van Gils responded with back-to-back goals to keep the visitors in with a chance.
The two sides continued to trade majors before Hayden Walters kicked an important goal on the quarter time siren to give the Kangaroos a 21-point lead at the first change.
East Point started the second term in similar fashion to the first, kicking the first seven goals of the term, before Sebastopol finally hit the scoreboard.
The second term overall was clearly won by the home side as they piled on eight goals to Sebastopol's one, with Jayden Hind the clear shooter up forward for the Kangaroos, kicking four goals for the term and ensuring that his side took a commanding 65-point lead going into the main break.
The game opened up in the third term with East Point kicking a further eight goals for the term, with playing coach Dan Jordan finally coming into the game after being well held by Tom Peterson.
By three-quarter-time, the margin had blown out to three figures, with many surprised it hadn't happened earlier, given the Kookaburra's horror run of injuries to date.
The last quarter was very evenly matched as the Kookaburras tried to add some respectability to the scoreboard, however the end result still didn't reflect the effort from the depleted side, with Sebastopol managing to perform fairly well in the clearances, and at times even bettering East Point in the inside 50 entries. Tony Lockyer was a noticeable inclusion for the Kookaburras as he added some much needed grunt to the midfield, as did Brent Van Gils.
Kangaroos playing coach Dan Jordan was impressed with his side's four-quarter effort.
