SPRINGBANK 9.16 (70)

BEAUFORT 5.6 (36)

It's hard to understand what has happened to the Crows.

Perennially touted as finalists, the drop-off in performance in the last couple years has been severe.

Their better players continue to play well but it appears as though the winning attitude has disappeared.

Springbank was harder and tougher from start to finish. Had injured forward Paul McMahon been playing for the Tigers, it could've been a much heavier margin.

The victors had the ball in their forward 50m for the majority of the game, but due to the lack of multiple targets, found it difficult to put the score on the board.

Springbank's lone key forward Tom Eltringham was dominant.

Helped by his team's delivery by foot, he led and marked with ease and most importantly, he was one of few Tigers who kicked straight in swirling conditions.

Due to the tempo of modern football, simple skill errors and turnovers are routinely punished in this day and age and these key indicators are plaguing Beaufort this year.

When the ball inevitably spilled to ground, the Crows' lack of pace through the middle was incontrovertible with the exception of Zane Thompson, who battled valiantly against the tide.

The Tigers, now sitting poised at five wins and two losses, have a mouth-watering clash against a rejuvenated Gordon in the crosshairs.

With possible top-four ramifications on the line, Springbank will be eager to topple the Eagles at home after the long-weekend break.

For the Crows, they get a chance for redemption as they travel away to Skipton.
