BUNGAREE 7.10 (52)

DAYLESFORD 6.7 (43)

The Demons hit the ground running, dominating the opening quarter.

Their midfielders were getting first use of the ball out of the centre, pumping it into the forward line time and time again to an abundance of tall targets, and if it wasn't for some wasteful shots at goal, could have blown the game wide open.

However, the Bulldogs weren't going to lie down. They gradually clawed their way back into the match, and when Max Risstrom marked and goaled from an errant kick-in by Demon Joel Mahar 21 minutes into the final term, the Bulldogs had their noses in front for the first time.

Up stepped Bungaree tall man Tom Wilson. A strong mark inside 50m, which Wilson calmly converted, put the Demons back in front. And when Wilson managed to get boot on ball in the goal square seconds later, the home side had the four points sewn up for a much-deserved victory.

Bungaree's Marty Dufty stood out in a solid effort by the home side, as did defender Charlie Reed, who was outstanding in defence.

Bungaree coach Greg Middleton was pleased with how his side fought back after being headed late in the last quarter.

"It was trying at times in the last quarter, after leading all day and when they (Daylesford) got their noses in front, it shows the character of our boys to kick two goals in the last three minutes, it was fantastic," he said.

Daylesford's James Evans was best on ground for the visitors, keeping dangerous Demons full forward Josh Brown to just a single goal, while playing coach Andrew Button kicked two timely goals to keep his side in the contest.

The third-straight defeat for Daylesford has seen it tumble out of the top four, falling to seventh on the ladder.

It won't be an easy climb back up for the champs, with games against neighbouring rivals Hepburn and the much-improved Gordon outfit coming up in the next month of football.
