"IN 12 months time we hope to be where North Geelong are now," Bannockburn coach Craig McGough said after a disappointing day for the club.
McGough spoke highly of his young players, who matched it with second-placed North Geelong for three quarters, only to fade out late.
The Tigers fielded a side that included 12 players with fewer than 15 games of senior experience, and showed plenty of promise for the future.
"The first three quarters I thought we were really competitive.
"They're probably 12 months ahead of where we're at, that was probably a reflection of the result ... our development from pre-season to where we are now is really good."
Matt Tyquin, Tom Worpel, Jack Brauman and Jordan Malden were among the best, in particular when the Tigers got on top in the third term, with the young group's run and spread causing the Magpies plenty of problems.
