DISAPPOINTED Belmont Lions coach Paul Nigro has reassured supporters his side is heading in the right direction, despite losing its seventh match for the year in what was a winnable game against Corio.
"We are disappointed as a group. The effort was certainly there for the best part of the day ... (there are) a lot of positives from today but we're not here to lose either," Nigro said.
"It's a positive approach to where we're heading, obviously we want to be winning more games .
The Lions managed to fight back from a 46-point quarter-time deficit to hit the front midway through the third quarter but were unable to continue their momentum.
Nigro put the loss down to a lack of "maximum effort" and not applying enough scoreboard pressure when the game was in the balance.
On a positive note for the Lions, the once Chris Canavan-reliant forward line found other avenues to goal with Jamie Duggan kicking six and Shane Miller kicking five.
