Media Release | AFL Barwon- in conjunction with the Geelong and District Football League and Colac and District FNL, have finalised Allowable Player Payment (APP) limits for 2020 and beyond. AFL Barwon remains fully aware of the challenges our region, competitions and clubs will face in 2021 and into the future in the face of COVID-19 and the pressures on clubs even prior to COVID-19.
However, the pandemic has provided an opportunity for all metro and country competitions to assess and review APP limits, to allow for greater club and league viability and sustainability across the state. The inflated nature of player payments has placed unfair burden on clubs and their volunteers over recent times, and we recognise the need to contain player payments so clubs can direct valuable resources and time into facility development, junior programs and additional club initiatives.
