werribee centrals fcGeelong Advertiser |
THE spotlight will now be on Werribee Centrals after it was given a stark reality check by North Geelong in the second half on Saturday.

The Centurions failed to score after drawing to within 18 points during the third term to eventually go down by 118 points and have slipped to fourth place on the table.

Perhaps the most disappointing aspect from the loss was the lack of leadership and response once North Geelong began to apply scoreboard pressure.

They were unable to stem the follow in the second half and must now regroup quickly for a tough test against a resurgent Thomson next week.

In the run home, Werribee also faces Belmont Lions, Bell Post Hill and East Geelong and can still miss the finals after a promising start to the season.

While Werribee has suffered a horror run of injuries, Saturday's performance could not be put down to simply a lengthy injury list as it was outplayed in every facet of the game.

Werribee's only win over a top five side so far this season came against an injury-ravaged East Geelong in Round 5, otherwise it has suffered a tight loss to Anakie and been thumped by the top two sides on three occasions.
