Geelong District FNLMatch Previews | Werribee Centrals coach Rhyce Prismall says, “You could have written your own ticket” that tomorrow’s (Saturday’s) Round 8 meeting with the unbeaten Belmont Lions would carry such significance for both clubs.

The Centurions are 7-1, and a win over the Lions will give Prismall’s men their best first half of a season since their most recent grand final appearance in 2010.

The Lions’ 8-0 start is their best opening to a season since the return to a single-division model in 1996.

“We knew Belmont had recruited very heavily, with big numbers on the track,” Prismall said.

“I think at our level, sometimes, that’s all you need; you just need a bit of depth in your list, and things can change very quickly at GDFL level.

“It’s sort of happened with us as well.”

Prismall admits that the Centrals knew that the clash with the Lions was closing in.

“We don’t like to get too far ahead of ourselves in terms of the playing group and the coaching group,” he said.
