K Rock Football | Werribee Centrals will thoroughly investigate an incident during Saturday’s loss to North Geelong, where a spectator allegedly struck Magpies captain Zac Schwennesen.
The Centurions released a statement this (Monday) morning, saying the spectator, who is believed to be the father of a current Centrals player, will be banned from future matches at Galvin Park.
“Werribee Centrals President Chris Kopelke and his committee are appalled by the behaviour of a spectator at their ground on Saturday as anyone who witnessed it,” the statement said.
“The President expressed his and the Club’s dismay at the events that took place and have acted immediately in banning the spectator from Galvin Park games.”
The statement rejected some media reports that the spectator entered the field of play to confront Schwennesen.
“The safety of all participants and spectators is the number one priority involved at the Werribee Centrals Football and Netball Club,” the statement continued.
