K Rock Football | One of local football’s worst-kept secrets has been confirmed following the appointment of former Richmond and Western Bulldogs forward Sam Lloyd as co-coach of Geelong Amateur.
Lloyd, who played 89 AFL games, fills the position vacated by the departure of Dan Holroyd in the wake of Ammos’ elimination final exit at the hands of Modewarre.
Lloyd will share duties with Riley Kershaw remains after the former St Joseph’s star was ushered into the role following the departure of Sam Darley ahead of the 2023 season.
“The time was right to step into a senior coaching role after many years as a player and in support coaching roles,” Lloyd said in a statement on the club’s Facebook page.
34-year-old Lloyd spent most of this year helping Deniliquin to the Murray League finals but did manage to make three appearances for Geelong and District club Anakie.
He also has ties to the region after attending Geelong Grammar.
