Mininiera District FNLWeekly Advertiser | The Mininera and District Football League’s northern teams are all eyeing moves up the ladder after a successful summer of recruiting.

Moyston-Willaura, Great Western and Tatyoon all finished outside the finals last season, while Ararat Eagles finished fifth but were ousted in an elimination final by Hawkesdale-Macarthur.

But with leaders at all four clubs reporting productive off-seasons, their respective fortunes could soon turn for the better.

Great Western president Dale Hurley said his club was ‘absolutely thrilled’ to return to its home at Great Western Recreation Reserve after a major club-room redevelopment saw the Lions play their home games at Central Park and North Park in Stawell last season.

He said the Great Western community was excited to have the team back in town and had shown great interest in the official opening of the redeveloped rooms.

“We had our community opening last week and it was really well received,” he said.

“We had people from all over the community take time out of their night to come and check it out.

“The feedback was fantastic and there was a really good buzz.
