NEWCOMB is on the search for a new coach for 2014 after Ryan Coy stepped down in the middle of a two-year deal.
Coy joined the Bellarine club from GDFL side East Geelong at the start of 2013 and said a change in his work had forced his hand.
"Some things have come up with work, and I've got a young daughter," said Coy, who also had an option for a third season.
"It's 100 per cent to do with work and family, it's not anything to do with the players and the club.
"I'm going to be here in a playing capacity, when I can, next year. There's no ill-feeling or anything like that."
The Power have struggled since winning the 2007 BFL flag but have shown marked improvement this season, winning three games.
Not being able to see that through is what most disappoints Coy.
"Especially early on we played some good competitive footy against good quality sides," he said.
"We obviously had our lapses as well and had some heavy defeats.
"But the thing that is most disappointing is the injuries we have copped, especially towards the latter half of the year."
President Damian Mahoney admitted to surprise at Coy's decision.
"But, on speaking with him, with his work commitments, I can fully understand," Mahoney said.
"You've got to take these opportunities that he's been given with his work."
Mahoney said the Power have formed a sub-committee to find a replacement.
"(We've got) some good quality people that have good knowledge of footy, along with Ryan, so we're getting out and about now," he said.
Coy is hopeful Newcomb can finish the season with a win when it hosts Anglesea at Grinter Reserve on Saturday.
"We didn't cover ourselves in glory last time we played Anglesea," he said.
"We went in fairly confident and we copped a fair loss.
"So the boys are really keen to turn it around against them.
"Home ground, last game, we both can't play finals, so it's going to be red-hot I think."
