CRESWICK will play finals for the second season in a row, but its place in the Central Highlands Football League playoffs didn't come without an element of drama this afternoon.

The Wickers let slip a handy lead deep in the last term to eventually draw with rivals Newlyn, leaving them to wait on scores from the Skipton versus Learmonth clash to learn their fate.

There was two separate eruptions - firstly by the Creswick supporters and then the playing group out on the ground - following realisation that the Emus had hung on to beat the Lakies by just six points.

This ensures Creswick remains eighth on the ladder and completes its goal of back-to-back finals campaigns.

The Wickers will take on Springbank in an elimination final next weekend after the Tigers jumped to fifth following their win over Rokewood-Corindhap.

Daylesford has slipped to sixth after defeat at the hands of Waubra, and will meet Gordon in the other elimination encounter after the Eagles went down to Buninyong this afternoon.

The Bombers' win completed an undefeated home and away season ahead of a qualifying final against Hepburn, which remained fourth following its success against Dunnstown.

The other qualifying final will be between Waubra and Bungaree after the Demons locked down third with their win against Beaufort.
