IT was an emotional send-off for Nyasha Muchochomi as his North Shore teammates carried him from the ground after Saturday's game.
The 25-year-old Deakin University graduate played his last game for North Shore ahead of his departure from Geelong.
The Zimbabwean had captured the sympathies of many in the Geelong community when it was reported he faced deportation after a lapse in his visa arrangements caused by the death of his migration agent.
North Shore football club president Dale Purcell said Mr Muchochomi was a popular team member who had come to the club with no idea how to play but plenty of enthusiasm.
"He just waltzed in here and said he wanted to learn to play AFL," Mr Purcell said.
"He couldn't kick or handball or bounce. Everything you asked him to do, he'd say, 'Yeah, man I'll do that'.
