But on the field, the 18-year-old North Geelong star had all the answers in a best-on-ground display.

Podnar was far from overawed on the big stage, rising to the occasion to kick three majors as well as being influential in many of the Magpies' forays forward to earn the WorkSafe VCFL medal.

"It's awesome, I'm speechless," Podnar said.

"I didn't know how to prepare. I just rocked up as another game and that was it.

"All the hard work we've done in the year just pays off."
