MODEWARRE will be without Scott Driscoll for Saturday night’s Easter blockbuster against Torquay after he was suspended by AFL Barwon.

Driscoll yesterday accepted a one-match from the Match Review Panel for striking Drysdale’s Jacob Wilson in the Hawks’ 45-point on Saturday.

Driscoll’s incident was one of seven viewed by the MRP but the only one deemed worthy of investigation.

AFL Barwon operations manager Michael Limb confirmed Driscoll had been offered a one-match sanction.

“We have requests from the umpires or the clubs where they weren’t sure if something might have happened and that was the only case where they (panel) thought a charge should be laid,” Limb said.

“I think it’s a good thing (that the cases were reviewed). Just because they request an incident be looked at doesn’t mean there was something in it.”

The MRP findings followed two tribunal cases on Monday night, where two players were banned for a combined total of seven weeks.

Winchelsea reserves player William Kelly will miss the next four weeks after being found guilty of forceful front-on contract on North Geelong’s Matthew Jones in the first quarter of Saturday’s clash at Keith Barclay Oval.

Newcomb recruit Kane Hider received a three-match ban.

“This report was from an investigation a couple of years ago,” Limb said.

“He was in the Colts at East Geelong and now he wants to play for Newcomb, so he had to front the tribunal.”

Hider was dealt a six-match suspension, with three weeks suspended.
