BELL Post Hill star Justin Tarr is free to play Geelong West this week after his charging report was thrown out in a matter of minutes on Monday night.
The AFL Barwon tribunal stopped the hearing immediately after watching vision of Tarr’s final-quarter report from Saturday’s win over Werribee Centrals.
Tribunal chairman Dennis Gilmore urged reporting umpire Luke Burke to “have a close look” when booking players in the future.
“You see that type of incident 100 times a game,” Gilmore said.
Tarr was challenging the set one-match suspension offered to him over the incident, which saw him yellow-carded.
He was reported for “charging into the back with force of an unknown Werribee player”.
“Obviously pleased with the result, I thought I had no case to answer,” Tarr said post-hearing.
“Only been reported once in my 150 games, just glad I could clear my name.
“I’m glad (getting yellow-carded) didn’t affect the result.”
Gilmore said Burke, a young umpire, could learn from the experience.
“Luke, I’m sure you’re a good, up-and-coming umpire and coached by some very good advisers,” he said.
